Mr. Mohammed Husain Khatkhatay

Mr. Khatkhatay is a B. Tech from IIT (Bombay) and an MBA from Poona University. He has vast experience in Islamic Finance. During his professional life of 40 years, he has been working in the area of capital market, shariah compliant product development, Islamic microfinance and Islamic Finance regulation in India.
For his seminal work on Indian capital market and its shariah compliance, Mr. Khatkhatay was invited by Harvard Law School for presenting his joint research paper at seventh Harvard University Forum on Islamic Finance. Later on the same research was published by Islamic Development Bank in its official journal Islamic Economic Studies. He has spoken and presented papers related to Islamic Finance at conferences in India and abroad.
He has played a key role in structuring a Shariah compliant Index, Venture Capital Funds, a Mutual Fund, and Shariah based fund mobilization models for Real Estate, leasing, finance and manufacturing and service companies and other Corporate clients. He has vast experience in Shariah Audit of policies, processes and operations of the companies and firms operating in the Indian legal and regulatory environment.
Mr. Khatkhatay was earlier associated as Executive Director at the launch of AI Baraka Finance House Ltd., the Indian arm of the Dallah - AI Baraka Group of Saudi Arabia and is currently Director of TASIS, which is India's premier Shariah advisory institution. He is also Advisor or Director on the board of other Islamic Fianancial institutions. He has been keenly involved in tailoring the evolving Indian regulatory framework to create space for various Islamic finance initiatives.
